Additive Multimaterial Morphological Transformation

The proposal is framed as a project for applied research, technology transfer and training on advanced technologies, in line with interventions related to the national Industry 4.0 plan. The objectives of the proposal concern the development of scientific knowledge and the subsequent definition of suitable methodologies for conducting the design of mechanical components, in metallic material, to be made by means of Additive Manufacturing and the realization of the same with a production finalization for small series. A satisfactory exploitation of these opportunities can be found, to date, only in highly competitive industrial contexts (e.g., motorsport) or large-scale (aeronautical and automotive sectors): this proposal aims to extend this field of application to other production sectors.

  • Provision of services, Pilot Line and infrastructure
The project will make use of BI-REX technologies and services, particularly with regard to the use of the Pilot Line: BI-REX will provide equipment, equipment and expertise (hardware and software needed for component design, EDM cutting machine, heat treatment furnace, etc.) for the implementation of the various activities. Coordination activities will be carried out through the project management service.
  • Sharing, use, dissemination of produced material and know-how
At the conclusion of the project, all the contents / materials produced will be used by BI-REX with a view to dissemination and diffusion of know-how. This aspect will concern both training activities and the provision of support and technology transfer services towards companies: BI-REX thanks to the results obtained, will be able to propose itself as a Partner of companies interested in examining the opportunities offered by the AM in the design of new products.
