Collaborative Robotics for Advanced, Interconnected and Flexible Manufacturing Systems

The overall objective of the project is to develop an innovative, automatic and flexible handling system, based on the combined use of collaborative robots, mobile robots and perception and learning systems, to meet the needs of the individual manufacturing stations in the production line, ensuring integration and communication with the management information system and safe deployment in close proximity and/or in collaboration with human operators. The scope of FlexCoBot is therefore to increase the competitiveness of companies by improving their production processes. The expected results will be: a mobile and modular cobot that will be able to identify, transport and manipulate different types of consumables/semi-finished products/components between the different stations of the BI-REX Pilot Line; a reconfigurable assembly cell, installed in the BI-REX LP, equipped with perception and AI systems, which enable cobots and human operators to collaborate.

  • Provision of services, Pilot Line and infrastructure
    The project will be developed within the BI-REX Pilot Line and will make extensive use of BI-REX technologies, infrastructures and services. BI- REX will provide equipment and facilities to facilitate ‘experiences’, enable the development of demos, proof of concept and prototyping activities, and share expertise in technology consulting. FlexCoBot will also make use of the services: General Contractor, Project Management and Location.
  • Sharing, use, dissemination of product material and know-how
    At the end of the project all the contents/materials produced and the methodologies adopted will be used by BI-REX with a view to disseminating know-how. This will concern both training activities and the provision of support and technology transfer services to companies. The know-how obtained can be used to carry out further activities of development and industrial research.
