A new presentation event of the projects implemented under the third call issued by BI-REX: on 31 May, we presented PREME (Advanced Design and Testing for an Electric Powertrain for High Performance Motorcycles), implemented in partnership with Ducati and Alma Automotive.

PRESENTATION

The push towards electrification has strongly involved the motorbike sector as well as the automotive sector. The transport sector is facing a major challenge in the development of environmentally friendly and sustainable propulsion systems for the future, involving diverse experience and technical expertise.

The PREME project was created with the aim of laying the foundations for the design of a new generation of electric powertrains for use in high-performance motorbikes. In the first instance, particular attention was paid to the processes necessary for the development and integration of components capable of enhancing Ducati’s DNA. This phase was followed by the realisation and use of systems dedicated to the validation of the powertrain and the complete motorbike, both in terms of performance testing and reliability of the technological solutions adopted. In parallel, the implementation of models and technologies aimed at continuous monitoring of the powertrain were of central importance in a powertrain system that must embrace the concept of performance and reliability.

The results of the project will continue to be useful in the short and long term future, both in terms of the systems implemented and the experience gained.
